  1. Gustamps is a real treasure trove located in Brighton's historic Lanes. A real must whether you're a tourist or a local. Fascinating first class stamps, still perfectly valid to send, sold at just 45p each. Perfect for your collection, or simply to save money on the extortionate Royal Mail prices of today!

  2. We went into this shop to buy stamps cheaper than the post office price and left with an assortment of very interesting stamps (many of which were given to us for free!) and having had a fascinating conversation with the lovely man who owns the amazing stamp collection. A great place to visit even for non-stamp collectors - you're bound to find something that interests you at a great price!

I heartily recommend Gustamps, whether you want to buy as a philatelist or as a postal user: you can buy valid, collector-quality stamps for some 30% less than their postal value so make a considerable saving! The gentleman who owns the shop is very knowledgeable and pleasant. Posted by a grateful customer, Reinhard Wiersum

  9. My son & I visited Gustamps in the summer 2015. I had only intended staying for 5 minutes or so but this turned out to be nearer 75 minutes. We had a wonderful conversation with 'Gus' . He was so personable, knowledgeable and it re-sparked my sons desire to start collecting again. I would have no hesitation in recommended Gustamps to any stamp collector. We will definitely call in again.

  13. A cracking little shop! A really charming (and authentic) little place, if you're in Brighton wandering the Lanes you MUST pay Gustamps a visit. We wandered into the shop just as curious browsers with no interest in stamps at all - Gus was incredibly warm and welcoming, and so willing to share his knowledge and enthusiasm, not to mention his time. He gave us a wonderful insight into some really interesting collectable stamps. We recently got engaged (we were in town to pick up a ring) Gus was kind enough to point us to some fantastic stamps as an investment for our future - and he even offered to give us some super-hero stamps for a friend's child! He's a real gentleman, he not only made our day but also gave us a great memory to cherish. Thank you Gus!

He was so generous with his time and expertise. I shall definitely be buying my postage stamps there in future. Lovely chap.

The owner also talked about stamp collecting for my little daughter and even gave me some free foreign stamps to start her collection. It bought back memories as I used to collect stamps when I was little too. Thank you and I will definitely recommend to my colleagues at work.

  27. This business is so great! The owner is informed, polite, friendly and generous with his knowledge and time (if you need it). He sells postable first and second class stamps at a discount - all legitimate and still usable as he buys unwanted stock from trade. Aside from that he sells from a HUGE collection of beautiful used stamps at all sorts of accessible prices. It is great for serious collectors, or for people just wandering in with a casual interest, like me! Something to look at for 5 minutes has turned into a renewed interest in collecting beautiful stamps again - thanks Gus!

  28. Today, my wife and I saw one of the signs in the shop window about cheaper 1st class stamps available. We were about to buy stamps for our Christmas card mailout and Gus appeared and let us in. So helpful! We were not only delighted to spend over one third less than we were expecting but he was very generous in explaining all the details and even gave us a gift for my father. If only every business was so wonderful. Drop in, there is absolutely no catch unless you want to buy the latest post office gimmick.

  58. We came down to visit Brighton to stay a few days to visit my sister and popped into Gus stamps on the off chance with my husband and three children to get some first class stamps. We then started to have a very interesting conversation with Gus the owner. He was an extremely interesting, enthusiastic and friendly man. He then kindly gave our three children a mixture of different stamps including some Olympic, Pokemon and animal stamps for them to start collecting. We would highly recommend a visit to Gus stamps not only to get cheaper 1st and second stamps from him but to have a fascinating conversation with Gus and to inspire a new collector to stamps. 64. I took some stamps in to Gus, the owner, on behalf of CANCER RESEARCH BRIGHTON for a valuation. Gus kindly went through all the stamp books and offered to buy them at a very fair price. Overall an excellent experience. Thank you Gus.

  65. I went in with a load of first day covers I was interested in selling. Unfortunately none of them were particularly valuable but Gus spent time telling me which ones were of more interest to collectors and how I might go about dividing them into job lots and selling them on ebay myself to get the best amount of money. He really gave a lot of his time and knowledge to help me out, I was blown away by his generosity of spirit - he even gave me a couple of extra things from his shop to list in my ebay job lots which would help my selling prospects. All this for no charge whatsoever.

The shop itself is a treasure trove if stamps and FDCs are your thing. You can also buy legal first and second class stamps for use on regular post much cheaper than current Royal Mail stamp prices which was an eyeopener and something I will revisit for regularly.

    Thanks so much Gus!

  69. I Love Gustamps - Support Your Local Independent Business AND Save Money!
Since November 2nd 2016 I have been a very enthusiastic private seller on Ebay my initial modest expectations on sales have been far exceeded, to date I have exceeded over 300 sales with quite a few overseas customers, so I use A LOT OF STAMPS!
I organize everything from home with my invaluable electronic scales, supplies of Air Mail and CN22 Customs Declaration stickers.
Until I discovered Gus all thanks to a lifelong friend who lives in Portslade, I had to travel at least two miles to my nearest Post Office in Peckham - and more often would clear out nearly all the stock.
So for me Gustamps are a dream come true - my friend was aware that I was using a lot of stamps and casually mentioned: 'I make terrific savings on my postage as I buy stamps from this very charming guy that runs a shop, would you like me to get some stamps for you and it will save you some money?'
Of course! It was like a Blue Light Bulb suddenly went off.
Earlier today ( 10th Feb ) I placed another order for £250 worth of stamps - much bigger than the first order.
I was able to do this all by phone from the comfort of my home in Nunhead London.
They will be posted by recorded delivery, and as always I am like an excited schoolboy who can't wait to see the designs.
    1) This saves me trips to the Post Office!
    2) This saves me at least 20% - sometimes more on the face value of the stamps.
    3) My customers are still paying the full face value for the stamps, unlike some sellers on Ebay I NEVER charge more than face value and always apply full savings for multiple items.
    4) It makes posting parcels so much more pleasurable for me as I love the huge variety of amazing stamps, and more fun for the customers as they often get a parcel decorated with an array of unusual stamps, and Smiley Stickers ( Gus do you have smiley stickers?! ).
I love being creative so sometimes will use an entire sheets of stamps - for ONE parcel.
Some of the stamps supplied by Gus now feature in some of the images I use for my listed items - well you have up to twelve images that can be used.
    5) Gus always tailor makes my orders to suit my needs, so the frequent 75p for large letters is easily made up from 1st Class 64p x1 1p x 1 10p x 1
The £1 stamps are so useful!
    6) Two days before Christmas I broke my ankle in two places so getting to even my local shops was difficult never mind HOBBLING two miles to the Post Office. So Gus has saved my bacon.
    7) We should ALL be encouraged to support our local shops, and I know by reputation that Gus has been running his Aladdin's Cave of Stamps for many years and has many loyal customers. So I am delighted to now be a customers who be returning again & again.
Why buy stamps from the privately run Post Office when I can get them from an independently owned business AND save myself money - this is a WIN WIN.
    8) Thank-you Gus - Brilliant At Every Level.

PS: If you want to see what is in my shop-window via Ebay Search - Type Thunderblue600.

  70. The day I was to visit Brighton was to see my son run the Brighton marathon 2017, it was a sunny day and after seeing him off the start line found myself walking around the city center and this is where I stumbled across Gustamps shop and was taken back to my childhood with my dad's stamp collection which he pass on to me after he pass away in 2008. I meet the owner of the shop Gus who is a gentleman and oracle in stamps, so like me if you do have a stamp collection pass down to you and known nothing of stamps, go!!! give Gus a call he be happy to help you.

  71. So pleased I found this shop. I love matching stamps to cards, special occasions and people, and there's never any pressure to rush when choosing. Such a good deal, but an interesting experience too, even though I'm a not a collector, just a bargain hunter. Always a pleasure to shop there, I highly recommend Gustamps.

  72. I have known this gentleman for quite a few years without realising what his business was all about. I took into this amazing shop my late fathers collection of first days covers etc and received a wonderful learning experience from a very friendly and caring gentleman who took the time to go through the collection. How he knows where everything is in the shop I do not know, but I was lucky to watch him in action, giving excellent customer service to two customers who had come in to look at stamps from a range of topics, Many thanks.
